At its annual Connect conference, Meta unveiled Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, two generative artificial intelligence tools designed to let users generate and distribute playable 2D and 3D video games across social platforms using natural-language prompts.
Built on the underlying Meta Horizon Engine, the creation suite eliminates the necessity of specialized programming knowledge or high-end development hardware. Horizon Create functions as a dedicated smartphone application where users can describe gameplay ideas or choose templates to generate complete interactive worlds. The agentic system automatically generates core game elements, including difficulty curves, progression systems, art direction, and multiplayer infrastructure.
Creators can process generations in the background on mobile devices and receive alerts whenever a build is ready to playtest. For deeper editing, Horizon Studio provides a browser-based creation interface equipped with granular controls to arrange scenes, swap visual assets, and fine-tune scripts. Projects synchronize seamlessly across both phone and desktop environments, enabling creators to switch between mobile edits and detailed web workflows without losing progress.
Once completed, games can be published straight into feeds on Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon, letting audience members play instantly without separate downloads. Meta has also embedded automated safety reviews and age-rating checks directly into the distribution process to evaluate games before release. The tools are currently rolling out through an early-access waitlist as Meta aims to transform casual social media audiences into active creators.
