Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reported a sixth consecutive quarterly profit record on October 15, 2026, and forecast fourth-quarter revenue could rise as much as 61% year over year, citing strong demand for advanced chips used in artificial intelligence.
Net income for the July-to-September quarter climbed 68.7% to NT$763.06 billion, about US$23.6 billion, beating analysts' estimates. Revenue reached US$46.72 billion, also ahead of expectations and above the company's previous guidance. TSMC expects fourth-quarter revenue of US$52.3 billion to US$54.3 billion, compared with US$33.73 billion in the same period last year.
The forecast signals continued momentum for the chipmaker, which manufactures processors for major technology companies, including Nvidia and Apple. Chief Executive C.C. Wei also raised the company's 2026 revenue-growth outlook to about 44% in U.S. dollar terms. Still, TSMC struck a more cautious note about planning for 2027, citing economic uncertainty, while keeping its 2026 capital-spending forecast at US$60 billion to US$64 billion.
The results arrive amid broader investor concerns about the sustainability of AI-related spending, but TSMC's outlook points to substantial near-term demand for its production capacity.
