Officials from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states are meeting in Dushanbe on October 19–20, 2026, for the bloc's 25th Council of Heads of Government session to discuss trade, investment, transport links, and regional cooperation.
Held under Tajikistan's chairmanship, the gathering focuses on practical economic coordination, including logistics, industrial ties, finance, innovation, and cultural exchange. India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is representing New Delhi, while Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is leading Islamabad's delegation. Dar arrived in Dushanbe and met Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda and Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines.
Their discussions reportedly addressed regional developments and bilateral relations. Pakistan has emphasized trade and connectivity with Central Asia as primary goals. The wider meeting agenda also covers investment, transport, and logistics.
Delegates are expected to review ongoing cooperation and examine the bloc's financial and institutional operations. The final decisions from the gathering will show whether members can turn these shared priorities into concrete joint steps.
