A Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv killed one person and injured 15, and damaged a university campus, the Southern Bridge and metro infrastructure, Ukrainian officials said.
The attacks came in several waves from Monday evening, October 26, into Tuesday morning, October 27. Early strikes hit university buildings and student dormitories near Kyoto Park and Lisova metro station, as well as nearby homes and medical facilities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said five of the injured people were students or university staff.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said nine people were hospitalized. An ambulance crew responding to an emergency was also hit, injuring two medical workers. A later strike damaged the Southern Bridge over the Dnipro River.
Authorities closed the bridge and suspended train service on part of the Green metro line while they assessed the damage. The disruption made travel between the city’s two sides more difficult. Ukraine’s military said Russia launched 16 ballistic missiles and at least 255 drones overnight across the country.
Moscow said it targeted defense-industry and transport infrastructure.
